Rebecca Melland-Kuo lives in Apex, NC with her family. She loves to garden, take long walks with her English cocker spaniel, actively participate in church activities and encourage her own children in their academic and recreational pursuits. While she has a PhD in biology, she currently teaches piano lessons to neighborhood children, works as part-time sales rep of a local medical service company, and sells nutritional products from home. She also gives presentations about the challenges and delights of becoming a published author at local middle schools and to homeschool groups. She grew up in central North Dakota and loves to return frequently to hike in the buttes and canoe down the rivers in summer and cross-country ski and play in snow banks during the winter. Sitka’s Mirror is her first publication through Mayhaven Publishing out of Illinois and was inspired by her grandfather who told her about his adventures as a young man, growing up in western North Dakota during the Great Depression and WWII.
